        How to bleed your brakes

So you want to bleed your brakes but don't know how or want a refresher? Not to worry, here's some content to help out! A few quick tips from us first:

        • Always clean your hands before handling your brake pads. Sometimes brakepads slip in your hands and if the braking surface touches oil it's stuffed!
        • We always take our front wheel out as well as front pads just in case we have a spillage... It's a bit of extra effort if you're just bleeding the rear but it's saved us on a few times we've accidentally knocked oil out of the funnel!
        • Be careful not to spill DOT fluid. If you do, wipe it off quickly as it's known for wrecking nice paint... Wear the gloves that are provided, that will prevent DOT fluid from wrecking your nice hands too!

HOW TO FULLY BLEED SRAM/AVID BRAKES (with bleeding edge)

HOW TO FULLY BLEED SRAM/AVID BRAKES (old style - without bleeding edge)

        Which kit do I need?

The image below shows a bleeding edge brake caliper on the left and a standard fitting caliper on the right. The bleeding edge fitting (left) has a large-ish space and a hex fitting. The standard fitting (right) has a grub screw which needs to be removed to insert the standard fitting.

If you have a bleeding edge fitting you will need a "Bleeding Edge" or "All" kit. If you have a standard fitting you will need a "Standard" or "All" kit.
